Unboxing a Grail Knife: Spartan Blades Harsey Folder

Original video: Spartan Harsey Folder Unboxing a Grail Knife

Every collector has a grail item—that one piece they've been dreaming of owning for years. For me, when it comes to knives, I’ve had a few: the Chris Reeve Sebenza and the Half Face Blades Crow Jr were two I had to have. But today? Today is special.

After nearly a year of waiting, my Spartan Blades Harsey Folder (2023 Special Edition) has finally arrived! I haven't even opened it yet—I wanted to experience it for the first time with you.

First Impressions: Heavy, Smooth, and Stunning

As soon as I picked up the box, I could tell—it’s heavier than I expected. And as soon as I unwrapped it, I was blown away:

✔ The finish is not quite gold like in the photos—it's more like a deep gun-blued titanium.
✔ The weight is substantial, even heavier than my Sebenza 31.
✔ The smoothness is unreal. The action? Effortless. The lock-up? Solid.
✔ The MagnarCut blade has a high saber grind and reverse swedge, making it both practical and gorgeous.

This knife is everything I hoped for.

How It Compares to the Sebenza

The Chris Reeve Sebenza is legendary, and while both knives run on phosphor bronze washers, the Harsey Folder has a completely different feel:

The Sebenza is deliberate, controlled, and smooth.
The Harsey Folder feels fluid—almost hydraulic.
It’s bigger, chunkier, and has more weight in the blade.

It’s not "better" or "worse"—just different. And I love it.

This Knife is Meant to Be Used

Some might keep a knife like this pristine in a case. Not me. I’m carrying it right now.

✔ It’s already in my pocket.
✔ It’s going to get scratched, worn, and used.
✔ It’s going to develop a patina over time, and I can’t wait to see how it changes.

Final Thoughts: Worth the Wait

After waiting so long, I’m beyond happy with this knife. It’s a true grail piece, and I’ll be using it every day. I’ll do a full review in a couple of months to see how it holds up, but for now?

I’m just going to enjoy it.

Thanks for hanging out—don’t forget to like & subscribe for more knife, pen, and EDC content. Now, if you’ll excuse me...

I’m going to go cut something. 🔪🔥
