Blade Show Atlanta 2024: My Haul & Highlights

Original video: Everything We Bought At Blade Show Atlanta 2024

Blade Show Atlanta 2024 was an absolute blast! I went in with no real agenda, just looking to browse, meet some makers, and see what caught my eye. As always, I came home with more than I expected—some incredible knives, a few surprises, and even a couple of non-knife items.

Let’s dive into what I picked up!

Non-Knife Gear: A Few Unexpected Finds

Custom Chopsticks

One of the coolest non-knife finds was a set of wenge wood chopsticks, finished in caruba. We love Japanese culture in our home, so these were an instant buy. They’re long, beautifully crafted, and fit right in with our collection.

Big Idea Design Ti Ultra Pen

I’m a huge fan of Big Idea Design’s fountain pens, and I ended up chatting with one of their team members at the show. They suggested I try the Ti Ultra, a titanium pen that can switch between a fountain pen, rollerball, and ballpoint with a quick swap. Super versatile! I’ll do a full review after more use, but first impressions? It’s awesome.

Lesli’s New Fix Blade: Stroop Knives Mini

Lesli has a purple-themed collection, so when she saw this Stroop Knives Mini in purple G10, she had to have it.

  • 1095 carbon steel with a unique texture

  • Comes with a Kydex sheath (we swapped the clip for an UltiClip 3 for better carry)

  • Small enough for EDC or purse carry, but still highly functional

Stroop Knives is a small shop with an awesome crew. Even the kids at their table were helping show off the products! Great experience all around.

Southern Grind Penguin (Blade Show 2024 Edition)

I’d never owned a Southern Grind knife before, but I picked up this Blade Show 2024 Exclusive Penguin and I’m glad I did.

  • Only 15 made—I got #13

  • S90V blade steel (razor-sharp)

  • Black DLC coating for a sleek, rugged look

  • Thin and lightweight, but still feels solid in hand

Southern Grind is owned by Zac Brown (yes, the country singer), and they make some seriously underrated knives. This one’s a keeper!

Pro-Tech Knives: My Go-To Stop at Blade Show

Every year, we stop by the Pro-Tech booth. This year, I picked up two limited edition models—both incredible.

Pro-Tech Strider PT+ (Blade Show Edition)

  • MagnaCut blade steel

  • Olive anodized aluminum handle

  • Pearl push-button (exclusive to show editions)

  • Only 100 made—I got #40

The Strider PT+ is a thin, lightweight auto, perfect for everyday carry. Super snappy, as you’d expect from Pro-Tech.

Pro-Tech Sinkevich Oligarch (Blade Show Edition)

  • Dmitry Sinkevich design—elegant, clean lines

  • MagnaCut blade steel

  • Black anodized handle with pearl button

  • Only 100 made—I got #31

This one just dropped at Blade Show, and it’s an amazing mix of tactical and classy. The design is unmistakably Sinkevich, and it fires like a rocket.

Bonus: The Pro-Tech team threw in some free swag, including a 2024 Challenge Coin and anniversary pin—super cool gesture!

The Big Surprise: Medford Praetorian Swift OTF

This was the unexpected, last-minute splurge. As I was leaving the show, I stopped by the Medford Knives booth to chat with Greg Medford himself.

  • He showed me the Praetorian Swift OTF—their brand-new out-the-front auto.

  • S45VN blade steel, double-ground for precision.

  • Modular design—only one screw, everything else is dovetailed together.

  • The action is unreal—instead of feeling like a spring, it fires like a hydraulic piston.

I had to have it. Medford knives are hard to get, so grabbing one fresh from Greg himself was a highlight of the show.

Final Thoughts

Blade Show Atlanta 2024 was one for the books. From rare exclusives to unexpected gems, I walked away with a collection I’m stoked about.

  • Best EDC Pickup: Pro-Tech Strider PT+

  • Most Surprising Buy: Medford Praetorian Swift OTF

  • Best Value: Southern Grind Penguin (S90V for a great price!)

  • Coolest Non-Knife Item: Big Idea Design Ti Ultra Pen

If you went to Blade Show, what did you pick up? Let me know in the comments! Also, stay tuned for individual reviews of these knives soon.

Until next time—thanks for hanging out! 🔪🔥
